AKHA Speaker plans big for constituents in yuletide

The Speaker of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Rt Hon. (Elder) Samuel Ikon, has opined that there is need for more interaction between elected leaders and their people. The Speaker, who represents Etinan State Constituency in the State House of Assembly is of the opinion that such meetings would enable people know how best to fast track development in their respective areas. According to the Mbioto-born astute Economist-cum politician, it will also encourage information between people and their representatives to avoid making wrong conclusions about government programmes and policies. To this end, Elder Ikon will from Wednesday, December 19 to Monday, December 24, 2012, embark on a Ward to Ward tour of his Constituency. During the exercise, the Speaker is also expected to hold Town Hall meetings with his constituents to deliberate on ways to move the area forward. Information available to this Reporter has it that the tour will begin with Ward 2 by 2pm at the Speaker's compound, Mbioto, after which the team will move to Southern Iman Ward 4, by 4pm, where the Speaker will address the people at Civic Centre, Mbioto. Northern Iman Ward 2 will take their turn on Thursday, Dec. 20 at Secondary School, Asuna by 3pm and Northern Iman ward 1, same day, 5pm at Primary School, Afaha Efiat. On Saturday,, Dec.22, the AKHA Speaker will address Urban Ward 2 by 2pm at Town Hall, Ekpene Ukpa, Southern Iman ward 2, 4pm at Ikot Obio Ika Primary School and Southern Iman ward 3 by 6pm at Qua Iboe Church Primary School, Efa. The tour will continue, Sunday, Dec.23, with Southern Iman ward 1 by 3pm at Primary School, Awa Ntong and urban ward 1 at Asuna Primary School by 5pm. On monday, Dec.24, the Speaker will have a joint meeting with Former Councillors, Supervisors and Former political office holders at the Speaker's compound, Mbioto by 8am, to be followed by another by 10am at Town Hall, Ikot Abasi, Urban ward 4 at primary school, Ekpene obom by Noon, urban 5 at primary school, Ikot Udobia, by 2pm. The release, however, requested all and sundry to converge at the respective rendezvous.
