Its could be recalled, during the senatorial constitutional review organized by the Red chamber of the national Assembly in each senatorial districts, in Akwa Ibom North East Senatorial District comprises of eight local governments areas, non of the council chairmen were present at the occasion, as issues relating to the local government top the agenda. Few days later, the public hearing organized by the Assembly on the Review of the local government Administration law which directly affect the day-day running of the council was sub my council chairmen. Speaking at the hearing elder sam ikon has this to say 'my first comment will be the total disappointment in the attitudes of the council chairmen, this is a law that would affect the running of their councils, if for any reasons this house legislate and passes certain kind of law that affect them they will now come and complain and blackmail us but this is a public hearing an opportunity to come and express your practical experience vie a vie the existing laws and what you can do to strengthen the existing laws and you are not here, I wonder what importance they attached to leadership and service, you must be disciplined, be serious about what you are doing, otherwise you don't expect any changes' Highlight of the public hearing was the collection of Inputs by the committee from individuals and groups
