A new and promising social network aimed at connecting Africa to the world has been discovered.

This network is built with the most recently developed social networking features, which makes it one of the most advanced social networks on the internet. It’s for a fact that this new social network has changed the way Africa appears on the internet; it has upgraded Africa’s rank through its social, commercial, entertainment and educative features. While people are still wondering and admiring this social engine, others are making great use of it. The network enjoys new registrations everyday.

The network’s name, Konekt Africa, to some people means a social network for Africans. But, that’s not what Konekt Africa is about. Konekt Africa is a networking environment where you as a foreigner, can meet Africans and get answers to your questions about Africa; its people, culture, beliefs etc. or verify your opinions/theories about the continent. As a foreigner, Konekt Africa is also an environment where you can meet other people who, just like you, have interest in Africa as well.

Let’s look at it this way, imagine that you are an architect, you love your job, you want to get others opinion about your works and meet other architects or people interested in the field. Other than your co-workers, you won’t meet anyone else unless you are in an environment (a seminar for instance) where other architects are. This is exactly how a non African enjoys Konekt Africa. Konekt Africa is like that seminar, where you can find people that share the same ideas, likes and interests as you.

Sports fan? there are sports fans here. You love fashion? There are fashion lovers here too. Whatever you like, someone in Konekt Africa likes it too.

Free and Safe Environment On of the defining characteristics of the network, is its ability to present a safe and secure networking environment.

The network’s ability to adhere to its NO SPAM policy is admirable. While some networks will advice their users to ignore spammers and abusers, Konekt Africa takes a different and most noble direction, by getting rid of these abusers when and if found. It also instructs and make it much easy for its users to report abuse.

It’s for a fact that spammers are on every corners of the internet and some networking sites do not have the resources to fetch and eliminate this threats, thereby resorting to ignoring them and hoping they will go away, eventually. But Konekt Africa takes a firm stand and uses the necessary means to eliminate this anti-networking agents and presents its users with secure and threat-free networking environment.

Standard Features:

       Individual (Member Profiles): Professional user profiles with advanced features. Business Profiles:  Business pages. Groups:

Interactive Features: These features make it possible for its users to express their opinions or how they feel about a certain content or post. The features include;

Shares: Allows the user to share or re-post a particular content with his/her friends, families or love     ones. Likes & Dislikes: Allows its users to express how they feel about a particular post by liking or disliking such posts. The Like feature also helps in ranking a certain contents/topics. As some contents are shown to users or displayed based on their likes. Comments: This allows the user to post his/her opinion about a certain post and also read others opinions about that post.       Chats & Messaging: users are able to send instant messages to online users. And also leave messages to offline ones. Entertainment Features: These features include: Videos: Allows its users to upload, share, and watch videos. Users can upload videos from their local devices (computer for instance) or share / embed videos from videos sharing networks like Youtube, Vimeo, Daily Motion etc. This is one of the most used features. Music: The music module allows users to upload and listen to songs. Artist can request that their works (albums) be added to the player. Photos: Photo sharing is entertaining. Users are able to upload and share photos and depending on their privacy settings, others can see these photos as well. Gaming: Users can play single and multi-player games. Jokes: This feature allows users to add and read jokes.

Educative Features: These features make it possible for users to read and publish educational materials.  The features are: Blog: users own and publish their own blog posts. A blog post is captioned with the user’s name (example, Steven’s Blog, Helen’s Blog). Discussion: This allows users to post topics of interests for discussion. Others read this post and comment (discuss) the issue in question. Questions and Answers: A very important and educative feature that makes it possible for users to ask and answer asked questions. Users are able to post questions for others to answer and also answer questions they have knowledge of. Archive: The archive is a wiki feature that allows users to publish and read posts.

Informative Features: These include: Activity (newsfeeds): This feature informs users of activities going on in the network. Based on privacy settings, activities could be friends only or public. Notifications: Inform users of interactivity between him/her and other users, or interactivity with his/her contents. Example, when someone comments on, like, sends you a friend request etc. this feature informs you. Events: Users can create events and view events, including its location, attendance, ticket price (if any), etc. Birthdays: Displays friend’s birthdays. Recommendations: Makes it possible for users to recommend web pages and contents.     File Sharing: Allows users to upload and share files with their friends, families, co-workers, fellow students / classmates etc. Live scores: Displays real time football scores to users.

Commercial Features:  Makes it possible for users to showcase their products and services. They include: Auction: Allows users to auction their products. Ads: Allows users to create ads for their goods and services. These ads are placed on certain areas of the site for all users to see.

Users The network enjoys signups from people (both Africans and non-Africans) everywhere.

Konekt Africa is managed by admins and moderators. The network is founded by a Nigerian and managed in Kharkiv, Ukraine.
