That the wife of the former Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Nnenyin Alison Attah had died is no more news not even her burial tomorrow 30th November, 2012 but what matters the news now are some and many of those legacies she had left behind.
Nnenyin Attah as she was fondly called graduated from the Leeds University, UK, as a librarian and worked in different strata of life and at different places. But among the women and children in Akwa Ibom while serving as the first lady of the State, she was popularly called “Nnenyin”.
Also, while serving as he first lady of Akwa Ibom State, Nnenyin Attah who had passion for child care was the chairperson, Child Development Trust (CDT), organization that sought to change the lives of under privileged rural children in Akwa Ibom through the provision of free health care services.
It is believed that Nnenyin Attah would live for a long time and be missed by millions that her pet project like the CDT, women in leadership among others touched their lives.
An indigene, of Barbados where Obong (Arc) Victor Attah married the late Allison, she was a mother of two but had soft spot not only for her two children but for millions outside her wedlock including the women group whom she founded ‘women in leadership’ as a mentor, she trained and mentored the women as well as nurtured the children all for the benefit of them becoming good and happy citizens.
Theses sterling qualities endeared her to millions of Akwa Ibomites both young and old; men and women.
The coming of Nnenyin Allison Attah to the State at that time served as a springboard to who now seek for fair share in the country’s scheme of Affairs.
As the fallen heroine begins her final journey back to her creator, neither in Nigeria nor Barbados where she came from, it is hoped that the entire state not only the beneficiaries of her pilot enmasse to bid her farewell as we in the Century Newsfront Newspapers start now to say Nnenyin, Esiere o, Mma sanga sung tutu isobo!!!
